Bwi International Framework Agreements

BWI Secretary General Ambet Yuson described the negotiations: « We have reached a good final draft agreement that the three entities recommend signing during their final consultations. It`s been a long process, but it`s very healthy, because it means we`ve matured our mutual understanding of concepts and expectations. That is why we are convinced that LH is sincerely committed to respecting all important international labour standards in all its companies and that they are serious about the implementation and monitoring of this agreement. The right to join a trade union, the right of association and the right to collective bargaining are fundamental and much needed human rights throughout the world. 19 January, 2018 The three global unions today signed a Comprehensive Framework Agreement (GFA) with renewable energy company Stora Enso in Geneva, in the presence of ILO Director-General Guy Ryder. Observer signatures were made by the presidents of the Swedish Paper Workers` Union, the Swedish Forestry, Wood and Graphics Workers` Union and the Finnish Paper Workers` Union. « This agreement is a further recognition that workers` rights are human rights. The importance of global framework agreements has been recognized not only by companies like Stora Enso, but also by the G20 and international organizations around the world. Signed today in Zurich, the MoU is a prelude to the GFA and reaffirms its commitment to a full GFA that should be signed before the end of the year. On 12 July 2017, LafargeHolcim and the global unions IndustriALL Global Union and BWI signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Zurich in which they signed their intention to sign the final draft comprehensive framework agreement. The GFA`s goal is to establish and implement a constructive and responsible social dialogue between the company and global unions. Mr Jennings, general secretary of UNI Global Union, said: Kemal Özkan, assistant general secretary of IndustriALL, said of the MoU: the GFA is formalising an ongoing dialogue between the partners and all signatories will meet every two years to assess the implementation of the GFA. « A comprehensive framework agreement between LafargeHolcim, IndustriALL and BWI is not only a benchmark in the materials industry; It is also a strong signal for Swiss multinationals to get in touch with their main stakeholders – their workforce. We will ensure that this GFA is successful. « The agreement is an excellent redector for the year in which we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Stora Enso, by signing this agreement, is taking an important step in the right direction for workers along their supply chain. « By signing this agreement, Stora Enso is committed to ensuring fundamental labour rights for workers in their global companies and subsidiaries. We look forward to actively working with Stora Enso to implement this agreement on the ground and improve the lives of workers. » « We strive to create a work environment in which all our employees are treated with respect and fairness. We are constantly working to ensure that all our units meet the requirements. By signing the Global Framework Agreement, we are showing our commitment and taking the next step in this important area. Within the GFA, Stora Enso is committed to cooperating with the three global unions to safeguard the fundamental rights of workers in all its branches and global subsidiaries. .
