In accordance with Article 5 of the Comprehensive Peace, Diplomatic and Normalization Treaty between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel, the contracting parties enter into bilateral agreements in areas of mutual interest for which they have agreed to the following provisions. These provisions are attached to the treaty and are included in them. Trump made a Middle East peace deal a pillar of his foreign policy early in his term, and until Thursday, there was little sign of progress toward that goal. While Thursday`s announcement falls short of Trump`s promise, it gives him an important step toward the campaign trail. This would never have been done without Saudi Arabia`s agreement. On 3 September, El Al announced that it would carry out weekly indirect cargo flights to the United Arab Emirates through the Belgian city of Liège, the first of which is scheduled for 16 September with agricultural and high-tech equipment. On September 10, Israel was the first airline to announce a direct air route between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. The airline said flights between Ben Gurion Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport will take place in three and a half hours to reach their destination. The first cargo ship from the United Arab Emirates arrived in Israel on 12 October at the port of Haifa, with the MCS Paris arriving at the port every week. Prior to the agreement, the plan to annex the West Bank by 30% had already been frozen, with the majority of Israelis and government coalition partners Benny Gantz rejecting the plan.
Hundreds of thousands of Israeli settlers live in the territories, in addition to Palestinians who in practice were under Israeli control. In Somaliland, bashe Omar Awil, sent to Kenya, welcomed the normalization between the two countries. This is a key example of the importance of bilateral cooperation for regional stability. Palestinian nervousness will increase after Bahrain`s accession to the agreement.
